Philadelphia and DEN Stars!!!!!

Sweetie and I arrived in Philadelphia and headed right for Old City. We couldn't wait to see the sights...the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and Betsy Ross's house. I couldn't believe it! Everytime I turned around, I saw a DEN Star. I saw LeaAnne Dougherty, Margie Rogers, Amy Cordova, Mark Perlman and Kim Adair. Mark and Kim live in Philly and I ran into them at a Phillies game. I'm not sure what the rest of them were doing in town, but it sure was fun to see them all!

DEN Super Star R. J. Stangherlin

Sweetie and I caught up with R. J. Stangherlin at the Perlman Center for Advanced Medicine. She was getting ready for her last chemo infusion. In two weeks she will get an Echo, PFT, Bone Marrow and PET Scan. The week of June 3, they will collect stem cells, and she will be hospitalized from June 18 until mid-July. Despite everything, R. J. is positive and looks as classy as ever. She raved about Dr. Nasta and credits him with saving her life.

Well R. J., we all owe a debt of gratitude to Dr. Nasta, too. On behalf of the entire DEN community, we look to you for inspiration, we love you, and we are grateful to have you in our lives!

Valley Forge

We had to stop at Valley Forge! Learned a ton about the Revolutionary War, but we're on our way again.

This is where the soldiers would have slept!

DEN Star Sheila Fredericks

Sweetie and I were walking along and I started to get hungry. We decided to stop at the Inn at Saint Peter's Village. As our waitress was taking us to our seat, I had to do a double take. There at a table with a group of people was none other than the DEN Star Sheila Fredericks. She explained that she was part of a group called the Chester County Camera Club. They were having a bite to eat and then going out to take pictures around town. It sounded like a great time, so Sweetie and I crashed Sheila's party and had a blast!

Lancaster, PA

Sweetie and I arrived in Lancaster County today which is often called Amish Country. When Sweetie and I came across an Amish buggy, the horse pulling it turned in shock to look at Sweetie. Since I was giving her a rest and I needed to stretch my legs, I was just leading her down the road. That horse must have been really jealous when she looked at how easy Sweetie had it. Of course, we know the truth!
This Amish horse looks appalled that Sweetie doesn't have to pull a buggy.
We saw lots of covered bridges in Lancaster.

Gettysburg, PA

There is no way we could be this close to Gettysburg and not stop by. We had a great time looking at the monuments and battle fields. We weren't surprised at all to run into Jim Beeghley and his family. Jim is an aficionado on Civil War history. If you are interested in the Civil War, you should definitely check out his website: Teaching the Civil War with Technology. You will be amazed by the resources you will find!

Hershey, PA

What a beautiful place Hershey is! After touring the town, we went to the infamous Hershey Park. Unfortunately, it was closed for the season.

A Visit with My Daughter

So Sara thought it was an April Fool's joke, but Sweetie and I really were in her living room. I am very happy she is smiling about all the dirt we tracked into her new apartment.
